1. Acceptance and Purpose

By using the NoteKar Android application, the companion web application (PWA), or this website, you agree to these Terms of Use. NoteKar is a personal productivity, time-logging, journaling, and mindful reflection tool.

You agree to use NoteKar only for lawful personal purposes and in compliance with all laws applicable to you. You must not use the software to stalk, harass, unlawfully surveil others, infringe privacy or intellectual property rights, distribute malware, or bypass security controls.

2. User Responsibility and Data Backups

Because NoteKar is an offline-first tool where records are saved directly to your local device:

Content Ownership: You own and are responsible for the notes, moments, tags, and records you create, import, export, or share.
Backup Responsibility: You are responsible for preserving and backing up your records. Use the built-in JSON and CSV export tools in Settings to maintain offline copies of your data. Because NoteKar maintains no remote user database, the developer cannot reconstruct or recover local records that were erased or lost.
Device Security: You are responsible for maintaining the physical and operational security of your device, PIN/biometrics, and export destinations.

3. Non-Medical and Self-Reflection Boundaries

NoteKar includes informational reflection tools such as the Life Audit ledger, Memento Mori life horizon estimates, mindful breathing alerts, and sobriety urge surfing counters. These features:

Are provided solely as personal self-reflection, mindfulness, and productivity aids.
Do not constitute medical, psychiatric, psychological, legal, or financial diagnosis or treatment.
Must not be used as a substitute for qualified healthcare, professional therapy, crisis management, or emergency services.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or emergency, please contact a qualified healthcare professional or your local emergency support services.

4. OS and Delivery Constraints

Timely delivery of hourly mindfulness alerts, persistent notifications, home screen widgets, and background daily maintenance depends on your device operating system, OEM power-saving policies, Doze mode restrictions, notification channel settings, and system clock stability. NoteKar cannot guarantee uninterrupted background execution or alarm delivery across every hardware configuration.

5. Open-Source Licensing Boundaries

NoteKar source code is published under the MIT License.

The MIT License applies to the source code covered by the repository LICENSE file. It does not grant trademark rights in the NoteKar or YABP names, icons, brand assets, or third-party fonts and components. Third-party packages and fonts remain governed by their respective licenses.

6. Limitation of Liability and Support

The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
