Privacy Policy — NoteKar

Our Privacy Promise

NoteKar was designed from day one with a strict privacy-by-default and offline-first architecture. We believe your daily logs, notes, and timestamp history belong solely to you.

We do not collect, track, aggregate, process, or sell any personal data or logs created inside NoteKar. No account creation or personal details are required to use the application.

Local Storage & Zero Backend Sync

All data generated while using NoteKar stays locally on your device:

Web Application (PWA): Data is stored in your web browser's local database via IndexedDB (using Dexie.js) and LocalStorage.
Android Native App: Data is stored locally on your device storage via Hive and SharedPreferences.

      Zero Cloud Servers: NoteKar does not maintain cloud database servers or user telemetry systems. Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.
    

Android Device Backup Support

The NoteKar Android application supports standard Android OS Auto Backup (Google Drive system backup).

If enabled in your Android system settings, Android automatically encrypts and backs up app data to your personal Google Account cloud storage. This is governed entirely by your Android OS and Google Account settings—NoteKar developers have no access to these backups.

Device Permissions Explained

NoteKar requests minimal permissions strictly necessary to deliver app updates and notifications:

Internet Access Permission (Android & PWA): Used exclusively to check for application software updates, fetch version release notices (`health.json` / GitHub release channels), and display bug fixes or maintenance alerts. No personal usage or log data is uploaded during these checks.
Notification Permission (Android & Web): Used to deliver local system notifications regarding newly available app updates, critical bug announcements, or user-configured timestamp reminders.

No Third-Party Analytics or Advertising

NoteKar contains no advertising networks, no commercial tracking SDKs, and no third-party analytics (such as Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel).

We do not sell, trade, or share user info with any third party.

Data Control, Export & Deletion

You have total control over your data at all times:

Data Export: Export your timestamp entries anytime in standard CSV or JSON format directly from App Settings.
Instant Deletion: You can clear individual entries or erase all app data instantly using the "Reset All Data" option in Settings, or by clearing app storage in your browser/Android settings.
